INFLUÊNCIA DE METAIS NO COMPORTAMENTO REPRODUTIVO DE PEIXES, REVISÃO BIBLIOGRÁFICA.

Resumo

Metais pesados são contaminantes aquáticos comuns, liberados na biota aquática por diversas fontes. Tal contaminação causa preocupação devido ao fato da remoção incompleta destes poluentes pelos atuais sistemas de potabilidade de água, além do risco que representam para os organismos aquáticos. Entretanto, grande parte dos autores direciona seus estudos para a avalição neurotóxica destes compostos. O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar as informações disponíveis na literatura científica a cerca dos efeitos dos metais no sistema reprodutor de peixes. Observou-se uma predominância de estudos relatando efeitos no sistema reprodutor de peixes expostos a concentrações abaixo ou iguais às estabelecidas pela legislação brasileira, ressaltando a importância de monitorar e controlar a composição dos descartes domésticos e industriais. Embora os estudos aqui relatados tratem de exposições laboratoriais, os dados são plenamente transponíveis para o ambiente natural, onde alterações reprodutivas podem implicar em complicações na continuidade das gerações dos peixes, impactando em todo ecossistema.
