Abstract

It is presented a general review on plant-parasitic-nematode problems on sugarcane (Saccharumofficinarum) and hybrids of Saccharum spp. The first mentioned reference was that by M.Treub in 1885, when this pioneer investigator reported Meloidogyne javanica (Heteroderajavanica) in Java. Following are stressed N.A. Cobb publications in Hawaii during his stay atExperiment Station of Hawaiian Sugar Plants Association. The review goes along the XXcentury decades. Finally, the last informations are concern the brazilian bibliographic collectionson this matter been indicated names and their contribution to the knowledge of this importantarea related to one crop of high value important for mankind.
