Multilobular bone tumor is a rare primary neoplasm in dogs that affects flat bones of the skull, potentially malignant, locally invasive and slow growing. It typically affects dogs of medium to large breeds and middle-aged to elderly dogs. Clinical changes will depend on the biological behavior of the tumor and are associated with the structures that are compressed by the mass. The objective of this work was to report the case of a multilobular cranial bone tumor in a nine-year-old mixed breed dog. The patient presented with the progressive development of a firm mass in the dorsal region of the frontal and parietal bones of the skull, which resulted in keratoconjunctivitis due to excessive tension of the skin in the eyelid region. The cranial radiography demonstrated the presence of a mass of great radiopacity and granular appearance. The cytopathological examination revealed findings suggestive of a multilobular bone tumor, making the decision to surgical excision of the mass. Excision of the neoplasm was performed by divulging adjacent tissues and sectioning the neoplasm at the base of the skull. Due to the degree of invasiveness of the tumor, it was not possible to establish a surgical margin. The diagnosis was confirmed through histopathological examination. The patient recovered well after surgery, including the eye injury, but after five months there was a local recurrence of the neoplasm. A second surgical intervention was not possible, as the patient died from bufotoxin poisoning. Surgical removal of the neoplasm, even with compromised margins, significantly improved the patient's quality of life.Downloads
