Abstract

Lymphangiomatosis is characterized by anatomical malformations in the lymphatic capillaries. In veterinary medicine, there are few reports available on this lymphatic morphogenesis disorder. Diagnosis is based on histopathological examinations, and the treatment of choice is complete surgical excision. This study reported a case of recurrent ventral cervical lymphangiomatosis in a dog, and its clinical-surgical approach. A two-year-old, non-castrated male Maremmano-Abruzzese Sheepdog received veterinary care in southern Brazil due to an increase in volume in the ventral cervical region, as reported by the tutor five months earlier. An exploratory surgical procedure was chosen based on the patient's history and previous exams. The histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of lymphangiomatosis. The patient returned thirty days after the procedure with a recurrence, necessitating a new surgical intervention to remove the remaining lymphatic tissue. Thirty days after the second surgery, the dog returned to the veterinary hospital for clinical evaluation and suture removal, showing complete recovery from the surgical lesion without recurrence.
