Abstract

The aim of this article is to investigate the imagery construction in three poems by Ana Martins Marques, taking haiku and imagism, a movement component of modernism of english language, as instruments of comparison, with the purpose of identify some aesthetic aspects of the writing of this author, that are very close to photography. Brevity is one of the structural features of haiku, also constituting a preference among poets who represent imagism, in order to enable a more objective and condensed imagetic production, that avoids symbolic or plentiful using of language. Once image production in part of Marques’ lyric suits similar configurations, we sought to approach this feature of her poetry from the dialogue with these two traditions.
