The objective of this work was to apply Ishikawa and Pareto diagrams to monitor the water treatment plant (WTP) of a dairy industry, aiming to identify and reduce errors that result in non-compliance with water potability standards, as required by current legislation. The work was divided into four stages: monitoring (6 months), evaluation and identification of non-compliance causes, and proposal of possible solutions. The monitoring revealed that the pH parameter had the highest degree of compliance, while residual chlorine showed the lowest percentage. The overall efficiency of the WTP was classified as an alert state, at 64.04%. The Ishikawa diagram identified the top 20 causes, and according to the Pareto diagram, resolving the first 6 causes would result in a reduction of approximately 52% in non-compliance. Consequently, it was possible to identify the factors responsible for non-compliance in water treatment and establish an ideal order of resolution for the identified causes. Furthermore, the parameters most affected by these factors could be identified. Therefore, it is necessary to implement improvements in the WTP through corrective action planning and resolution of the factors indicated in the Ishikawa and Pareto diagrams.Downloads
