Abstract

Urolithiasis is a multifactorial pathological condition commonly reported in pigs worldwide, characterized by the presence of uroliths within the urinary tract. One of its major consequences is partial or complete urinary obstruction, which may lead to death if not promptly managed through surgical intervention or urolith dissolution. Compared to other domestic species, studies addressing the therapeutic management of urolithiasis in pigs remain limited. This report describes a case of vesical urolithiasis in a male Moura pig treated at the Veterinary Hospital of the Federal University of Paraná (HV-UFPR), presenting with stranguria, pollakiuria, and intermittent hematuria. Following diagnosis based on laboratory and imaging findings, surgical management via cystotomy was performed to remove the uroliths. The clinical and surgical approach adopted proved to be safe and effective for the treatment of urolithiasis, contributing to the restoration of urinary function and improved quality of life for the patient.
